In the Desert Room, our mission is to help our friends transition to becoming more independent and ready for Pre-K. We work on their motor skills throughout the day, including holding writing materials and moving them to make various shapes, lines, and letters. We complete different art projects that connect to our letter of the week and our themes for the month. Each month we have various themes where our students learn about different science and social studies concepts, including community helpers, space, hygiene, parts of the body, etc. We complete science and sensory projects with each theme to experience the different themes. We work on their phonemic awareness, which prepares them for Pre-k and reading readiness. Our three's program works on students' ability to express emotions, which aids them in communicating their wants and needs. We incorporate music and dance, allowing our students to enhance their special specialness and speech development. Music and dance are a big part of our classroom. Our and ours learn how to move their bodies to promote their growth and gross motor skills. Throughout this stage in their development, our friends make significant strides in their learning and communication skills. We look forward to seeing all of our friends accomplishments!
Meet the Teachers
The Desert Room 3’s - Head Teacher
Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Gehad, I will be teaching your children this school year and I cannot wait to get to know all of you and your little ones! I’ve been teaching preschool for almost 5 years now and I love my job so much because it’s rewarding and joyful! I have a Bachelor's degree in Human Services from Touro College and a Master's degree in the Early Childhood Education Masters program at Brooklyn College. Teaching young children has been my passion for so many years. I find it extremely rewarding to see the look of happiness on a child’s face when they completed a piece of artwork or took part in a group activity knowing that I helped give the children the confidence and ability to do so. Encouraging my students to recognize that every moment has potential for learning is my goal, especially learning through play. I also love teaching this age because I want to influence kids’ lives, so they can learn to appreciate the importance of learning. I love the smile they have on, and the look in their eyes when they learn something new, which can change the lives of children. As a teacher, I’ll have the ability to reach out and be a mentor and a role model for the children. I also think that the most important reason I became a teacher was that I have a deep love of learning and curiosity to learn more and want to pass that along to my students. It makes me happy and fulfilled when seeing a child discover their passion, and experience success in learning. Throughout this school year, students will explore themselves, and their community.
Thank you,
Ms. Gehad
